Today I drank some fresh lemonade expecting it to be water- and almost threw up, thinking that the water had gone bad beyond what I previously thought possible.
It is interesting how the mind works like that... For instance, one time I was eating what I thought was potato salad, but it turned out to be apple salad. Before I knew it was an apple salad, I thought it tasted horrible and said to myself that surely these potatoes must have gone bad. Although when I found out what it was, I started enjoying it, thinking that this apple salad is pretty good. For a potato salad it is disgusting, but for an apple salad it is a delicious. Why can't we just judge the flavor by the flavor and not by its name? Why does our judgment have to be so influenced by the power of association?
